Peace Site at Calvary
Calvary Lutheran Church was dedicated as a Peace Site on August 26, 2007.
What is a Peace Site?
International Peace Sites commit to uphold the following five principles:
- Protect the environment
- Promote intercultural understanding and celebrate diversity
- Seek peace within yourself and others
- Reach out in service
- Be a responsible citizen of the world
Why Peace Sites?
- To counter the terrible violence at every level and promote non-violent solutions to conflict.
- To promote a world without war, ethnic cleansing and terrorism.
- To protect the environment and life support system of our space ship Earth.
- Promote Human Family Values and a sense of World Citizenship.
- Address the serious problems of Global Hunger, Starvation, Economic Injustice and Over-Population.
- Promote a reformed and strengthened United Nations. The U.N. and the International Court of Justice should have the capacity to adequately deal with all serious global problems that simply cannot be solved by any one nation or small coalition of nations.
